K2S and Premium Account only downloads...that suddenly change status

I'm new here (VEF refugee) but I have question...

Can anyone explain why K2S would mark a Viper uploaded file download as Premium Account only, which is ostensibly against the upload rules here, but if you keep trying the download link in the post, eventually what was a Premium Account only download suddenly becomes free for all and you can download it? I've never experienced this kind of behavior with K2S before but I've seen it twice in the last few days with Viper uploaded files (where K2S says the file came from Viper).

I think I know what you mean. It used to puzzle me as well.

Sometimes, K2S decides to show the download page like this. The big blue button is just a way to direct you to buy premium, but there is a little button (the actual download button) which I've marked with a red arrow.



By clicking it, it prompts the next window with the usual download options.



Finally, another window tries to convince you to register on K2S and you can start your download.



I don't know how they determine whether to show this download page or the usual one below.



So yeah, it's an annoying strategy, but it is not technically premium-only. If this doesn't explain what you're experiencing, please feel free to share some screenshots

Wellp, I was wrong.

My issue is not the same as mike_04 described.

I start here to grab Dildo which I scanned several years ago...

And get taken to this K2s window



So I click on Download Now and get taken here...



I click on Free Download On Slow Speed and get taken here...



I click on Slow Download For Free but instead of getting taken to a download page that starts the countdown, I get taken back here...



At this point if I click on Download Now, I get taken to this page where it says it's a Premium Download only...



At no point in this process does that little icon mike_04 pointed out show up. So I don't know what's going on here...

Hmmm...I've dowloaded at least 30 files for free from K2s in the past few days. Not huge byte counts but a lot of files. So maybe K2s is giving me a timeout without telling me it's giving me a timeout. Rapidgator seems to be doing it too as I was able to download 4 files the first day but less the next and now it seems like I can only do one and then Rapidgator says I've exceeded my daily download limit even though I only downloaded 1 50mb file.

So maybe I'm sitting in a K2s penalty box?

That could be it.

In all my testing and usual experience downloading from K2S, I've never run into the situation you described. I should also mention that I rarely download more than one file consecutively, so I've never actually hit K2S's daily download limits.

Well, I was able to successfully download 2 K2s files in a row but separated by five hours. And these were files that earlier in the day I couldn't get at. So I have no idea what's going on...

I too never downloaded off K2s like this before but I've got a compelling need right now as I work to grab back as many of my VEF full mag scans as I can. At the time I never considered retaining the files but I also never considered VEF getting caught up in a police raid either.

It probably has to do with the vipergirls site's header/referer. The file was probably uploaded by the uploader as a premium only, but since VG doesn't allow premium k2s links to be posted here, k2s changes the status of the file when it detects that the link comes from vipergirls.

As you suspected & mike already confirmed, you were probably in k2s penalty box. I download a lot from k2s too.. & I have experienced this as well.
As a free user, you can't download more than 1 file at a time. There also must be a certain time gap between each download. If the gap is too little, it will show countdown timer of 15min to 60min, instead of the usual 15 seconds.
There is also a middle gap, where you speed slows down from the usual 120 kbps to 80 kbps.
For long gaps, the speed comes back up to 120 kbps.

But K2s isn't as bad as Filejoker which sometimes would tell me my download was still in progress so I can't download another file but this was hours after I'd completed downloading that file. And of course once Filejoker decided my already downloaded file was now finished it'd throw the 3 hour countdown on top of that.

yep.. filejoker is worse than k2s. If you use any download manager, k2s links can be resumed within the first 30 min or so.. which can be quite beneficial if there is any network disturbance.. but with filejoker, no resume whatsoever. The number of times my filejoker downloads failed at the last moment due to network problem is too damn high!

Chrome will let me resume a K2s download hours later if need be most of the time. Sometimes it can't recover it. And yeah it's extremely useful...especially when K2s throttles your download speed so slow it takes days to grab a 1.5G file.
