ViperGirls Viewer — a desktop app for browsing and downloading photo sets

Hey everyone,

I've been working on a desktop app for browsing this forum's photo sets — a cleaner and faster alternative to the web version. It runs as a native app on Windows and Linux (no browser, no terminal, no Docker). Current version: v0.1.6.

What it does

• Full forum catalogue — all sections (Softcore, Hardcore, Fetish, Lesbian, Transsexual, Gay and more) in a sidebar. Returning from a thread to the gallery is instant — no image reload, scroll position preserved.
• Smart loading — covers load first, then quality upgrades one by one. Smooth swaps, no flicker, no broken icons.
• Hover previews — move the mouse across a cover to scrub through the first 5 photos of the set. Clean crossfade between vertical and horizontal shots, no ghosting.
• Thread view + lightbox — 12 images per page, grouped by post. Fullscreen viewer with keyboard navigation, zoom, swipe, slideshow (1–5 s interval) and preloaded neighbour frames. Images are cached — revisits are instant.
• Download queue — a download button on every card; the queue panel shows per-thread progress, retry on failure, STOP/START and auto-sorting of files into folders.
• Likes — like threads right from the app; everything you've liked is collected in one view with the same grids and batch download.
• Downloads history — every saved thread with an "Open folder" button.
• Forum search — inside the app, with section filters (incl. archives). Newest/oldest sorting across all threads, not just the last 100 days like the forum default.
• Proxy support — SOCKS5 or HTTP proxy (with or without auth) applied to both the forum and image hosts at once. Useful when your provider blocks them.
• 16 image hosts — imx.to, imgbox, pixhost, imagevenue, imagetwist, acidimg, imagebam, pimpandhost, postimg, turboimagehost, vipr.im and more. Interstitial pages are resolved automatically and cached.
• Optional forum login — for restricted sections (password is sent as md5, exactly like the forum itself). The session persists across restarts.

Windows 10/11 x64 or Linux x86_64. Nothing else needed — download, install, run.

I haven't checked it out myself yet.. but just want to point out 2 things from the post itself..

1. acidimg is dead. I don't think there is any need to support it anymore.
2. It would be better if you could provide another download link other than telegram.. for redundancy's sake.

Pretty sure, it wasn't any other channel.. because I could see the channel name without subscribing/joining.. it was named Viper Viewer App.. with the same logo as now.

Hmmm. This is very intuitive. I have forked it and I am going to see about getting the backend closer to the metal. I like python, but there are some things it's not very good at.
